Ways to Evaluate and Pick the Right Party Dress

Party dresses are flooding the market and they come with a plethora of designs and shapes as well as sizes. You may see a lot of names of them already being in most of the stores whether retail or online. Some familiar names may include the sheath party dress, the junior prom dress and more, but whatsoever the name may be, here are several effective ways which could help you evaluate whether or not the party dress you are purchasing is worthy of your cash. Judge from these perspectives and you would find yourself a smarter shopper as well as a more fashionable wearer of party dresses.
First off the list, you would have to be delving deep into the fabric type, some fabric types may bring more discomfort as compared to others. You should definitely avoid party dresses made from cheap and unidentified materials, a lot of them happen to be uncomfortable to be worn, and some of them may be unsafe and might contain toxic elements which are harmful to the skin in the long run. Check for the labels and verify the fabric type. Cotton and silk would be a more preferable and ideal option for most occasions, since cotton and silk possess properties that help absorb sweat to ensure maximum comfort, they would also store warmth, which is an ideal thing if you seek to be adorned in a party dress during the colder seasons of the year, we understand that party dresses are not limited to simply one period of the year or one occasion. Pick one that fits your needs.
Next off, the design of the dress is very crucial. For general wearers of the party dress, most would opt for simple designs, and yes that would be a good option. In case you may be opting for something different, unique or special to yourself, you may try some new designs, but sleeveless, bust-length party dresses are more preferable to most people. Ideally, you would opt for something around that, but the key to preventing utter disappointment is pretty simple. A good rule of the thumb would be to ensure that nothing seems too extravagant or overdone; you would not want a design that looks too overdone that it spoils the overall presentation of the dress. Check in the mirror to see if you look good from an overall view rather than with the specifics, that would be good if you are seeking to inspire a clean and tidy look to others. An extravagant and overdone dress would be horrifying and devastating to your image and the occasion, since it matches neither you nor the occasion you are going to.
Finally, you would check on the climate and look for what you could ideally pair up with the party dress you desire to wear. Climate changes are great changers of clothing, and with that being said, you would expect yourself to get into thicker party dresses than the ones you would wear during summer, in order that you may keep yourself warm. You could be expecting yourself to bring along a coat, and of course, a coat that matches well. The colors and designs do not look overdone and do not strike out the beauty of the complementary clothing.

Check for these things on the list and you would pretty much have the right party dress for yourself. Cheers.

Ben & Tyler’s Rustic Chic Wedding

These soft little cookies were made from regular cupcake batter, piped onto a lined baking sheet, then filled with a swirl of jam and cream. And yes, they resemble French macarons. But they are so much easier to make than macarons, with none of the frustration or effort!
You can also fill these treats with caramel or your favourite version of butter icing. They are delicate, yet really simple – perfect for a special teatime treat.

With winter in full swing it is time to take celebrations indoors. With the golden warmth of a lit fire, rich colours, bold textures and indulgent eats, moody winter weddings are the epitome of romance. Emma Frost and Jessica Ellis form Supernatural Floral Design Studio dreamed up this intimate feast. They set the scene for the moments as the bridal couple retreats inside to relax and reflect on the day that has passed.
The sun is going down, a fire’s been lit and candles are dotted around the room. The last of the meal’s debris is still on the table; almost empty coffee and wine glasses, fine sprinklings of icing sugar, nibbled at stewed pears, lip stained napkins and an uneaten raspberry pie the couple share in front of the fireplace. Fly-on-the-wall photographer, Rebecca Meissner, from Love Made Visible captured this intimate occassion.view more

The excitement of Brendyn and Stacey’s heart warming union could be felt the moment guests entered the dreamy realm of Natte Valleij. They said “i do’ in the virtuous and fresh surroundings of the estate gardens and continued the merriment of the day’s celebrations. Embracing the Cape Dutch architecture as backdrop, the decor and flower designs reflected warmth, lots of personal touches and DIY inspiration.
Stacey’s flawless beauty hasn’t gone unnoticed either and we have to state that we love her ensemble of hair, make-up and dress that seems to suit her personality like a glove. And lastly, the couple images are an exquisite keepsake. Kim Du Toit Photography was the lady behind the lens.view more

We kick of our happy weekend with the gorgeous wedding of Ben and Tyler, captured by Laura Gordon Photography. The joyful couple casually decided to do a ‘first look’ shoot, followed by an intimate ceremony on the very top of a hill where they were surrounded by mountains and a breathtaking view. The happiness then continued as they celebrated their marriage at the beautiful Panorama Farms in Earlysville.
This wedding was adorned with visual inspiration and detail that we find fresh, unpretentious and timelessly classic and equal admiration is given to Tyler’s choice for her bridal attire and gorgeous bouquet. Enjoy.view more

The Ashes – Cricket is sport that music fans are allowed to like

Ashes 300x167 The Ashes Cricket is sport that music fans are allowed to like

With the Ashes in full flow there is the rare chance for music fans to pay attention to what happens in sport without fear of lowering themselves to sports buffs.
Music and sport are nemeses who should never meet. The rivalry starts at school when the townies chase balls on frozen fields while leather jacket wearing hipsters talk about Joy Division and lean against walls. Any teen movie tells you the outsider indie kids always trump the jocks.
Sport hardly helps itself promote style and panache. Just look at soccer montages – the nouveau riche in shorts gurning to Kasabian, or tennis clips – the middle classes waving flags to Gabrielle Aplin or whatevs. Basically, they prove sport generally sucks and is without soul.view more

doctor 4 final 300x222 Q&A interview with ‘Doctor Who’ star Frazer Hines

Neela Debnath spoke to ‘Doctor Who’ actor Frazer Hines, who played companion Jamie McCrimmon to Patrick Troughton’s second incarnation of the Time Lord.
Why do you think Doctor Who has remained so popular?
It’s a job I did over 40 years ago but I never thought it would still be here all those years later. I don’t know what it is. Even when it was taken off the air, I think fans kept it going because they wanted to see more of it. It was the fandom and a company called Big Finish who did the audio books that kept the name Doctor Who alive. So I think it’s been knocking on the doors all the time, people would not let it go. Like a dog with a bone. The fans will not let it go.view more

Rett 300x193 Living with Rett Syndrome: Remembering birthdays past
Add caption

As my son’s third birthday approaches, I find myself thinking about Hannah’s third and how we celebrated. I struggle to recall and then realise why: her third birthday came five weeks after diagnosis and it’s all a bit of a blur. Not because we were so wholly devastated, back then, that life lost clarity: we didn’t know enough about Rett to know we should be devastated.
We cancelled the planned party because a close friend lost her baby at 15 weeks pregnant and a celebration felt wrong. But Rett Syndrome, whatever that was, just didn’t seem like a big enough reason to cancel a party. There were tears, of course, fears and questions, but ultimately only a tiny speck of dust, out of the vastness of the dust cloud that was about to engulf our lives, had landed.view more

Diane Kruger's Sporty Skater-Girl Outfit Is Perfect for the Long Weekend!

Happy Fourth of July! Hopefully you're all are settled into a long weekend full of friends, fun, and relaxation. (Plus, you already have your nonliteral red, white, and blue outfits planned out, right?) If not, take some inspiration from Diane Kruger, who was spotted in a chilled-out, sporty ensemble that's ideal for a wedding dresses uk.

The skilled dresser took her distressed black Big Star USA cutoffs and classic checkered Vans up a notch with a sporty laser-cut, zip-front jacket (so much chicer than a go-to hoodie or track jacket, you know?) and a gray plush leather handbag. And her red-frame sunglasses and colorful straw hat inject some summer fun into the edgy city-girl mix. Great for a walk on the beach, dining alfresco on the boardwalk, or chilling with friends at a backyard barbecue.Do you have a go-to hairstyle when you travel? If not, these shots of stars taken at airports might just inspire you to try something a little different with your hair if you're getting out of town this week.

Apparently, Carey Mulligan likes to keep her hair out of her face with a bun:

Carmen Electra opts to leave in her cornrow braids:

Kendall Jenner hides all travel sins with a big hat:

Say Hi To Lily!

Yellow Beaded Strapless Floor-Length Prom Evening Dress

Fabric:     Imitated silk fabric
Style:     A-line  high waist, strapless styling, beaded waist tape, floor-length
Graceful bandeau dress features a striking bead embellishment to waist, creating a slender waist. Ruched bodice
provides with a great way to keep a bust shape. The gathered empire seam waist beautifully creates a small waist. A
variation of pleats on the front creates a fabulous fit, released down to a long length. Fits true to size with a back zip
closure. Concise and elegant, it is all that a magical evening dress should be.

Since everyone is always asking why our store is named Lily Boutique, I thought I’d do a blog post to explain.  The store was named after my dog:
Lily is a 7 year old Maltese and an unofficial employee of Lily Boutique.  She loves coming to work with us every day, so if you call the store and hear barking in the background, it’s just her trying to get attention.
Lily is a little uncomfortable with having her picture taken and always tries to turn away from the camera or run away and hide–she needed a little encouragement in order for us to get a few good pictures:

As it turns out, Lily’s pretty photogenic!  I think she deserves some extra treats for participating in this photo shoot.

Frilled V-Neck Sheath Tencel Prom Evening Dress

Fabric:    Tencel + Satin
Style:      Sheath style, high waist, V-neck front and back, layed frilled top, ruched waist, bead embellishment
Washing: Hand wash/dry clean separately, hang dry, iron at low temperature, no chlorine bleaching, less than 10 minutes soak time
Length/cm: 135
This gown is crafted in comfortable and breathable tencel and satin fabric, creating a flowing and silky skirt.
The special layed frilled top in V-neck always is impressive and eye-catching detail. It can be worn through all four
seasons. Fully lined and fits true to size with a side zip. A good selection for your important evening party.

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain

No matter how many red carpets I watchJessica Chastain glide down, I can't seem to get enough of her incredible style. This is a girl who knows what she likes and knows how to dress for her body type, and she did just that last week atamfAR's 20th Annual Cinema Against AIDS event in this slinky red number from Saint Laurent.
A one-shoulder dress is always inherently sexy, but Jessica amped up the sultry factor with strategically placed cutouts near the bust for a look that says alluring, not slutty. She kept the rest of her look simple, with a pretty cuff at the wrist and no other jewelry. Yes folks, sometimes less really is more when you're wearing a dress this stunning!
The final verdict? Wearing your locks in wet waves can give your formal look a cool factor you can't get with any amount of costume jewelry. Lesson learned here, ladies? Use your beauty to your advantage to turn your look into one that truly suits your style.
Isla Fisher

Isla Fisher

In honor of Isla's new movie Now You See Me (out in theaters today!) and the fact that we can officially wear white now (for those of you who believe in that fashion rule), I just had to give a shout out to this chic Dolce & Gabbana dress the actress wore to a photocall for her other hit movie, The Great Gatsby.
Dressing to impress doesn't have to take much effort, and Isla proves that with this beautifully simple look. A soft white dress with a bit of texture adds dimension to the look, her black pumps give a dose of class, and her soft wavy locks and bold red look add a bit of bombshell allure to this outfit.
The final verdict? This look is perfect for any special event you might have coming up, or just for another day at the office. You can dress it up with accessories when you want to look a bit more fancy or play down the look with a cool leather jacket. It's up to you!
Kourtney Kardashian at Scott Disick's 30th Birthday Party

Kourtney Kardashian

Birds of a feather, flock to Vegas together?Kourtney Kardashian hit Sin City in this avian-inspired outfit to celebrate her baby daddy Scott Disick's 30th birthday, along with her momKris Jenner. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star and mother of two wore a purple lace top and a peacock-esque black feathered skirt for the occasion.
We like Kourt's colorful lace top. It's a great way to show some skin, which is practically required in Vegas, while still keeping it classy. But her skirt is for the birds! Feather earrings or accessories are fine, but an entire skirt made from them is overkill, and we bet PETA is already drafting an angry letter if those are actually real. Can you imagine how many birds would have to die to make this skirt?
The final verdict? Kourtney's instinct to wear lace was a good one and we wish she simply stuck to a lace dress or a simple black miniskirt to complete her look. We're not wild about that blue eye makeup either, but we hope the busy parents had a fun night out together!
Stacey Keibler wearing Michael Kors floral print dress

Stacey Keibler

Stacey Keibler usually nails it when it comes to red carpet fashion, but we're unsure about this Michael Kors floral print dress she wore in Monaco. George Clooney's better half stepped out for the Amber Fashion Lounge at Hotel Le Meridien all covered up in this ensemble.
On one hand, the oversized bright pink floral print is pretty and pops nicely against the black, but the skirt seems wide and bulky on her svelte frame. We think a more streamlined, fitted version of the skirt would have been more flattering. And then there's the odd turtleneck top, which would be more appropriate for winter and not summer.
The final verdict? Her dress feels off season but it's not a total disaster. Perhaps Stacy just wanted to wear something super modest, since she had a wardrobe malfunction on the same trip. At the Formula 1 Grand Prix race, she forgot to zip the side of her jumpsuit, exposing her pink thong. Oops!
Jenny McCarthy

Jenny McCarthy

We all know Jenny McCarthy is a super-hot 40-year-old and she's in Vegas for the Billboard Music Awards, but that's no reason to dress like you're working the Strip. Jenny wore a black tank with a long, sequined maxi length skirt for the occasion.
The outfit feels too casual yet trying too hard to us at the same time, which isn't an easy feat to pull off. From the massive amounts of cleavage and exposed midriff to the strategically placed slits all over her skirt, this ensemble screams, "I may be a mom and successful television show host, but I still shop at Forever 21!"
We know Jenny has a rocking body and she's in Sin City, but let's leave a little to the imagination! Take a hint from Selena Gomez, who wore a long white dress with some sexy cutouts, or Jennifer Lopez, who chose a plunging Zuhair Murad dress with a sheer train.
The final verdict? Pick one part of your amazing figure to show off at a time, Jenny. Also, those hideous spiky platform boots have got to go! Save 'em for the Strip, sister.
Alyssa Milano

Alyssa Milano

While Jenny was showing way too much skin,Alyssa Milano took it to the other extreme and decided to rock a muumuu to the Billboards. We're not sure why she's so covered up, considering temperatures in Vegas were in the 90s that day. Is she afraid of getting a sunburn?
The top part of her outfit isn't so bad, although it seems a bit "Grandma goes to Atlantic City" to us. If her outfit was simply the top dress portion, she wouldn't have landed on our fashion fails list. But it's those bolero pants with sheer paneling that really have us puzzled. Pants shouldn't be worn with dresses in the summer, and the wide leg cut isn't flattering.
The final verdict? Ditch the pants, please! Or try a pantsuit if you're worried about a possible wardrobe malfunction or paparazzi getting a shot of your ladyparts while you're exiting the limo. Alyssa's pompadour hairdo is also a don't in our book.
